Light weight, sharp and beautifully engineered

April 25, 2017 ZEISS LENSPIRE Team

The new range of ZEISS CP.3 lenses offer superb optical quality with the manufacturing build and design you would expect from ZEISS but with the new addition of being amazingly lightweight. This opens up great opportunities for these lenses to be the perfect choice for gimbal work, crane use, heavily lift drones and any other situation where weight can be an issue.  Their appature/speed gives you great scope for playing with depth of field and creating the required aesthetics. The smoothness of the focus barrell is also a fantastic benefit when the lenses are being used on equipment that is very sensitive to movement for example gimbals and drones.

When Ember Films were asked to test these lenses we wanted to showcase the lightness aspect of them on our heavy lift drone, shooting predominantly in 6K. We were very impressed with how the lenses covered the resolution and enabled us more flight time (due to the weight) but with no compromise on image quality. We feel that these lenses will become a go to package for DOPs and productions where camera movement brings narrative to life. We are certainly excited to add them to our lens inventory.
