Jury at Europe’s leading congress in the life sciences MIPTEC Basel honored innovative products

On 11 September 2017, the jury at MIPTEC in Basel honored the ZEISS Microscopy trade fair team with the Life Product Innovation Award 2017. The 100 or so exhibitors were all invited to apply for the award with their most innovative product. To do so, they had to submit a short description. The jury stopped by the booth and listened to all the benefits in a 10-minute presentation.

Gert Sonntag, ZEISS Microscopy, receives the award from Bhupinder Bhullar (left), Chair Basel Life MIPTEC 2017 Steering Committee, and Gregor Dernick (right), Chair Product Innovation Award.

“When you hold the lenses, you don’t just see that they have to be more high-performance, you also notice that they’re bigger and heavier and are ZEISS through and through,” explains Dr. Stefan Wahl, Head of the Microscopy Group in Austria, Switzerland & SEE. A total of three innovative products on display at MIPTEC were honored with an award. This trade fair in Basel is one of Europe’s leading events from the BASEL LIFE platform, which briefly presents innovative approaches for high-quality science and technology.

The greatest asset of ZEISS Celldiscoverer 7? Its optics
Since its launch in November 2016, ZEISS Celldiscoverer 7 has been a hit on account of its robustness and its high degree of automation, but most of all for its optical power: “We have come up with a new optical concept that is two to three times more sensitive and more high-speed, meaning large fields of view are imaged in very high resolution,” says ZEISS Sales Specialist Gert Sonntag, describing the benefits of the device for users. ZEISS Celldiscoverer 7 is a perfect addition to the portfolio for high-end life sciences. He continues: “The system was designed as a platform, which means we will soon also be able to use it in other fields of application through further developments and techniques.”
