Jugend forscht East Württemberg Regional Competition 2016 at ZEISS
On 19 and 20 February 2016 the 19th East Württemberg regional competition was held at ZEISS; the topic was “Innovation is sparked by curiosity.” In the ZEISS Canteen of Culture at the Group headquarters in Oberkochen, there was a flurry of activity on both days: on Friday, the 165 participants from 81 teams presented their projects to the judges. Each team was provided with an exhibition stand to present and explain their projects. Submissions in the following categories were presented: World of Work (12), Biology (13), Chemistry (13), Geography/Space sciences (2), Mathematics/IT (9), Physics (11) and Technology (21). The regional winners were announced on Saturday morning, and the public then got a chance to admire the young researchers’ work. Overall, the 40 volunteer judges honored ten regional winners from the “Students try things out” group (up to 14 years) and the “Jugend forscht” group (ages 15 and over) this year. ZEISS has been a sponsor of Germany’s longest-running and most well-known competition for up-and-coming researchers since 1998.
